In case you didn't see the ad in the Lobo regarding security day this coming Tuesday, April 13th, this is a reminder of the event.
About security day:
In response to the ever increasing threats presented by virii, worms, and operating system (OS) vulnerabilities, CIRT is continuing its efforts to provide best practices information to the UNM community through security day.
Security day for Spring 2004 with be held on Tuesday 4/13 at the Sub in Santa Ana A and B. Refreshments will be provided. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to register on-line at securityday.unm.edu for any of the 4 sessions held throughout the day.
Topics to be presented will cover security best practices to help reduce the risk of compromises due to:
Bad security practices;
Virii and worms;
Scumware;
Firewalls;
Operating system and application security updates; Backups; Copyright;
CIRT will also make other resources available on CD and via handouts.
Each session will last approximately one hour, and short question and answer session will follow each section. A few laptops will be available to demonstrate some of the best practices
