Gmote turns your Android device into a remote control for a media server that runs separately on another computer (presumably your desktop). The client and server are Open Source and free.
Because the server software isn’t the same as your main media player (Windows Media Player, in my case, but servers exist for Mac and Unix), you don’t have the same options or playlists. So far, I haven’t found a way to play all, just all in selected folder.
There are two bearable glitches: The Server crashes now and then and has to be restarted on the server machine (you need physical access to do this). The Remote screen hasn’t be adapted to the gTablet’s larger screen and runs in portrait, looking a little goofy, but functional.
