This is my desk, where I will be writing Windows 8 for Seniors over the next 4 months. The two monitors on the right are connected to my regular system. The monitor on the left is connected to a separate computer which will run Windows 8 (that’s Vista you see now). (I will also run Win8 in a virtual machine on the main system. I use Input Director to control both computers with one keyboard and mouse, as well as share clipboard contents. (Nice, free program. A little nerdy to set up.) I’ll also use a touch screen laptop. And, I see a Win8 slate and MS Kinect in my near future.
My goal is to run Windows 8 under various conditions and with different combinations of hardware, particularly peripherals. All for you, dear readers. (OK, I’d do it just for fun, too.)
[Microsoft just released a free tool comparable to Input Director: Mouse Without Borders (too cute), which is a little easier to set up than ID. MWB also lets you drag and drop files between computers (which you could do simply with Windows Explorer and with more control) and transfer screen captures between machines. Interesting capabilities that don’t quite work the way I want them to, but you may like MWB.]
