In the middle of the picture is a oddly curvy wall -- such an odd shape.

Those
vertical slabs of flagstone form bins that contained "metates," large
carved stones that served as pestles to a "mano" -- a handheld grindstone
-- used to grind corn and other grains (contributing in the process minerals
and bits of rock that wrecked teeth). There were rooms found with an absurdly
large number of "manos y metates," implying food preparation for many
people, as would be expected in a ceremonial center.
